Del Morino TL84 - Flail Mower

When I removed the plug to check the oil level a bunch of oil came out. Is that correct? I thought the oil level should only be to the edge, not overflow like that. I guess the distributor could have just overfilled it prior to shipping. Is that bad for the mower?

I wish to welcome you as the newest resident member of the Flail Mower Nations from the great state of Tennessee and its City of Nashville.

Couple of things;

How long have you had this beautiful flail mower?
If its a COMER gearbox it probably has a top plug with a vent hole in it and that is probably where they filled it from.

Leave the oil level where it is for now and double check your manual for the proper oil level in the gearbox.

I have had the mower a little over a month. You are correct about the top plug. The manual states the correct oil level is at the lower hole rim. The plug to check the oil level looked like it had never been removed, so I assume they just filled it up without checking the level.
