I have an opportunity to buy a new Delavan PTO pump.
It pumps 20 gallons per minute at 1000 RPM.
What do y'all think of the Delavan brand of pumps.

Even tho the pump is new I have been searching
for rebuild kits and keep coming up with nothing.
I can find parts for Hypro pumps easy, but nothing for Delavan.
Are parts available? I just want to pump plain clear water.

I can buy just the pump, nothing else, for $75.
Should I do it. Wondering what y'all think.

Thanks.

Pooh Bear,

Is your PTO speed 1000 or 540 RPM? 540 won't get you 20 GPM, which BTW, to me seems small for a tractor driven pump. Anyway, one local farm store, Rural King, sells these so maybe you could order parts locally.

My PTO is 540. This would give it about 10 GPM.
Or I can use some pulleys to speed it up a bit
and get 1000 rpm with the tractor at idle speed.

I found the Delavan company online and parts are available.

Thanks.

You didn't mention a model but you should be aware the Turbine pumps like the turbo 90 are very speed dependent. Turning the input shaft at 540 would barely get any flow or pressure. The roller pumps are more forgiving about a range of operating speeds.

It's a 6600C roller pump. Rated for 540 or 1000 rpm.
My tractor is an early 1949 8N. PTO speed at idle is 200 rpm.
So a 10 inch pulley driving a 2 inch pulley will get me 1000 rpm.
Probably run slightly above idle and use a 3 inch driven pulley.
I already have all the pulleys, shafts, and bearings for this.

I got outbid on the Delavan pump on ebay. A sniper got it.
I started looking at them at Northern Tool and almost bought one.
Then I checked TSC and found a Hypro pump kit for a good price.
8 roller pump, 11/22 gpm, PTO adapter, and all mounting hardware, $170.
So I stopped over there yesterday and got it. Should be perfect for my use.
