Delivery Drivers

I’ve pretty much stopped pulling my goose neck anywhere I haven’t been before. Most people say I’ll be fine with my 30 foot trailer and I’ve been in a few binds. In reality my single axel lawnmower trailer is more like what most people must think a 30 foot trailer is like. You should assuming that the following warnings are false, you won’t get stuck, there’s no rocks in that field, and you can get your trailer in here.

I was trying to send in a Triaxle load of Gravel to my neighbors. With all the freaking untrimmed branches I can't get in there with my 3/4 ton without the branches slapping the mirrors. Yet, he claimed it would be fine! Maybe it's just a package deal with the large dog coming and scratching the crap out of your door.

As a delivery Driver. Don't ask me to drive down your driveway. Just because you saved money by buying it on the net. Way to many stories to tell about home deliveries. Our company is. not buying you a new driveway. I cringe whenever I get the bill that says will have help to unload. 2 people be it male female in their 70 s. Everyone else is at work.

We have UPS, USPS and occasionally FedEx deliver here. They all place the packages either right outside the garage entry door or right inside (or in really bad weather almost to the door into the house). My wife gives them all gift cards at Christmas (as she does for the garbage guy) and it seems to matter! UPS and USPS have even stopped to ask how we want stuff delivered.
This has been my experience too. The drivers of each of these have thanked us multiple times for keeping our driveway plowed in the winter, trees trimmed back from the edge, potholes filled, mailbox pull-off level, etc. Our main drivers are great. They take a few minute break and chat if we are at home when they deliver. We watch out for them, and they watch out for us.

Our drive is 12 foot wide, no branches overhang that could not accommodate a semi driving under. We have a 3 yard trash bin. Plenty of space for the driver to get in there to lift and dump it. He still drives on the dang grass by about 2 feet. I need to top dress limestone in the spring. I want to extend the drive back to the new barn. So I guess I will just make the drive 2 feet wider. Then put up a barrier of large rocks so he cannot drive over there. Of course that will make a bit of a pain for me to plow.

I also thought about buying some of those cheap reflectors and stick them in the ground along the side.

My house is on a corner lot and angled facing the corner, but the driveway is square to the street. I have had friends and delivery drivers both get confused, turn square to the house, and back over the lawn (one even backed over a maple sapling, and didn't stop until it was completely under the car).

I have a row of those fiberglass reflector poles up the drive, but mostly is just seams to mean they break the poles off when they back over them. At least it makes a sound and they actually get out and look before they get embarrassed and drive off...sometimes they even take a few seconds to straighten them up and jam them back in the ground first. At least they are cheap, and I can use them to guide the snowblower.

About everyone now days orders parts and other things online and we rely on mainly the two big delivery services to bring our goodies. I just wish one time in my life the little I have left one would come and go and the only reason I knew they were there was my order would be by the back door. I have never had one come and go that there weren't signs they were there. This isn't the worst but it's aggravating.

My interpretation of this photo is you have a narrow driveway with a thin layer of gravel on a wet muddy edge. I don't see this as the delivery driver's fault.

We have never had a problem with the drivers coming to our place. They usually drop stuff at the gate but when I know they are coming with something big I will leave it open so they can bring it to the garage or front door.
