Amsoil 15w-40 HDD Marine oil flash point is 457 degrees F. Compare that number to the best regular high quality oil. This is where synthetics shine, and the high flash point means little or no cokeing in the turbo unit passages which supply the turbo with cooling, and lubercating oil.

Is Dello a good oil? Depends on what you are comparing it too.

Then,
Some trust the numbers from oil test on their auto/engines
Some only go by wording on bottles
Some buy it since they can get it at every store from Coast to Coast and get it on Rollback
Some go by price
Some go by what has worked for years, so why change

Some will not believe you if you posted more info then this forum will hold.

At the end of the day, I say “does it matter since it is not my machine”? I know what works the best for me via my tests and it still costs the HUGE amount of $25 per year for oil. I just spent $16K+ to cut my lawn, use my backhoe and play in the dirt. And why am I worried about $25 again?

Again, as I stated above, there are people that are happy with what has worked for years. There are people that want "what they think it is worth". Then there are others that price = performance. Then again some people (in general) have no clue either).

To close as I stated above, I am spending so little on my oil it is not even an issue if it cost 3X as much.

I am sorry you are still trying to figure life out..But the clock is always running ......

Agreed gsxr, this topic is done. If I choose to spent the extra $25 to protect my diesel, that is my choice.

Nobody is telling you to do otherwise. If you want to use synthetic, by all means, use it.

What some of us take exception to are the dire warnings from synthetic adherants that the sky will fall unless you use synthetic, and that if we don't heed the warnings of the synthetic crowd, we are complete morons.

Oh, don't you worry... we'll see Mr. Cheney's picture here getting in the last word.
I'm also pretty sure the post will contain the words Amsoil, Powerchoke, and Exxon-Mobil.

Maybe he will give up trying to assimilate us if we just pretend that we agree with him.

Meanwhile, I'll keep using Rotella T and continue shopping for a Jeep Liberty CRD. Don't tell him though! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
