Delo 400LE vs Tractor Supply House Brand

Please place your seats in the full upright position, close your tray table and prepare for takeoff. Our flight through the 'Land Of Oil Minutiae' should last approximately six pages at which time we will land safely back where we started in the land of 'If API Meets Owner's Manual It's OK'. Note, while most people safely survive this flight, a small number have reported mild headaches accompanied by severe bouts of regret for ever boarding the plane while a smaller number become employees. Enjoy your flight and thank you for flying Oil Trivia Airlines. :D:D:D:D

Now THAT is darn funny...

Oil weight too light ( 15w -40 ) ? ? ? ?
Additive package too light ( CI-4 ) ? ? ? ?
As compared to what - Rotella ( Dino ) ? ? ? ?

Compared to some of the better grade oils available. But then again many do not care as long as it states that it meets the guidelines. Kind of like politicians always say they will cut taxes!

AS stated, TBN and Ash content.

I think you made a bad analogy.

Most politicians outright lie to you.. ont he other hand.. if an oil bottle states it meets the minimum requirements of a certain spec.. it likely does meet the minimum requirements.... The bulk of the questions here relate as to whether you want an oil that meets the minimum standards.. or exceeds them.. etc.

We questioned IH with there oil years ago about many of the manufacturers of oil. At the time we were told they had big contracts with many of the oil companies for trucks and equipment and they were not going to step on any toes! The one company was shell and we were told how many IH trucks they buy per year to haul their fuel around.

When was the last time you heard of a company that was having the government test oil for it's qualifications after it was granted the right to say it does meet minimum spec's?
Note, I did say minumum here as well! It is rare that they do go back to test! We have had manufacturers test from the can and found that the refinery was not giving them what they had ordered.

We from time to time have send some new oil out to be tested to see what it is when manufacturers won't give us the info we need to assist our customers.. We do find that some aren't good enough for an oil squirt can much less an engine. If changed often enough the owner might never have issues. Then again?
Please do not take me wrong, we appreciate those who use low grade lubricants and don't have good luck and we look forward to helping fix their machinery.

your argument essentially proves nothing though.. using yuor logic, you are just as likely to get bad oil in a store brand bottle as in a major brand bottle.

if a brand suddenly saw multiple failures that were showed to be lube related.. I think it wouldn't be too hard to go class action.. IF there was evidence.

Art, by your own words "We from time to time have send some new oil out to be tested " the stuff you sell has "failed" testing.
So maybe I should buy the Expensive, Name Brand, Failed oil from you, especially since you are looking forward to repairing your customers machines
P.S. the new CJ-4 rating for ash is ? "MAX" of 1.00 ?
..........................Traveller (Tractor Supply) is .99
Blackstone lab on there website.......Do I Need a TBN?
says the.............. "AVERAGE" new oil TBN is 6-14
..................Traveller (Tractor Supply) TBN is.. 10
Can the numbers be better ,YES, Can the numbers be worse, YES, worse like the oil you WOULD NOT put in a "squirt can"

I didn't say that it was an oil we were representing! They do give us the breakdowns, we know our oil is not cheap, so it's best to know it as well as your competition. To have an oil knowing it as best is .99 ash is not high enough for many compact tractor owners that tend to run their tractors for short periods of time and never really get them warm enough to operate at their peak or to begin to evaporate condensation from the base.
