Yes it's true that a lot of American company's have parts made overseas or in Mexico. However the American company still gets profit when they sell their equipment. We lost the electronics war in the 70's, and now we are losing the automobile war. I am glad Honda and others make vehicles here which give us jobs, but I am sad that another American car company may not be around in the next 5 years. Yes a lot of it is their fault, but I feel we need to suport them now so they won't go under. Ford for instance is finally making much improved cars.

In regards to lawn tractors, if the American brand like John Deere is good as the imports, I will buy the American brand even if some parts are made somewhere else. I want to support the American company's.

But then we get company's like Hershey who is moving their Reading PA plant who makes York Pepermint Patty's to Mexico. Not because they are not making a decent profit, but because they want a larger profit at the expense of their employees. They are shutting that whole plant in PA down. (Not the big corp. plant mind you..that one in Hershey PA is still making chocolate.) Budweiser also is now owned by a overseas company. We are shooting ourselves. Wait and see...15 years from now, the US will no longer be the powerful nation it once was...and you know what, I think we deserve it due to the corporate greed.

I'm afraid that if we don't get our governments head out of the sand we are going to lose in the environment war. Except it won't be only America that loses. It will be the entire world. If we don't get a handle on it we and the world are not going to be grow the food that we once did. Too many castrophies happening with the storms, floods and drought.

Those with the gold make the rules(laws). Right now the "gold" is oil. At some point the "gold" will get to be the food we eat. I sure hope we are prepared???Those folks living in those concrete valleys are going to have a heck of a time---paying high prices for fuel and food!!!---That is how we were able to be more efficient than Europe----we "Did" have cheap fuel and food and the rest of our disposable income was spent on "toys". Remember what Henry Ford was able to do with the assembly line. He was able to produce a product that his employee's could afford to buy. We all have to start looking at what we do and where we work---- In this "global economy" without safety nets---those that do more with less will survive and those that refuse will perish. Corporate greed is not the total problem--- our buying habits ultimately is the driving force. We refuse to pay more for a quality product and we just buy another one when the cheap one breaks. Think about it--- something as insignificant as the toys we got as children. (That metal dump truck or pedal tractor) Your grandchildren are still playing with them. But those plastic toys you bought "your kids" have been in the landfill for years. So we can blame everyone else but until we start with "me or I" nothing is going to change!!!!!

Corporations have a responsibility to their investors to do whats best for the profits of the company. The problem is that our government keeps making it increasingly hard to do business here. They sure don't seem to have any serious intention of making it any better, as the campaign platforms that we're hearing about are going to be a nightmare for our tax rates and overall cost of doing business in the USA.

Its easy to blame the "corporations". However, if you own a business, you know that doing business in the U.S. can be a minefield. Unconstitutionally, the federal government has got its paws in everything. Complying with paying people a simple wage is a pain in the rear. And the state governments are there to keep an eye on all of us "greedy business types".

We looked at outsourcing to overseas ourselves--mainly because we can't find enough qualified people to do the work. I personally can't stomach to do this. So in effect, we have decided to do less work.

A lot has been made of companies like Enron. Folks seem to rejoice at seeing the heads of these companies go to jail, die from stress, or commit suicide. Could be some of these folks deserve that, but there is no doubt the feds have stood some up on bogus charges for political purposes. Nevertheless, Washington has managed to drive down the dollar, ensnare us in trillions of outside debt, routinely cooks the books to hide the real inflation rate and
takes unfunded liabilities off the books like social security, medicare, and
so on. These guys have made corporate greed look like a dime store operation and you don't see the "G men" going to jail for fraudulent accounting and breaches of fiduciary responsibility.

And on top of that you can get sued for breathing hard.
