take the studs out and measure them and the threads. An auto parts store may be able to match them up or find online

Get the dimensions off of studs and then look them up on ARP dot com they make high strength studs, bolts, nuts for every engine ! there will be something that will work!

What are friends for? A long, long time ago, a friend, also an apprentice mechanic put my brakes on backwards. When they made noise, he told me to get speed and slam on my brakes to seat them. Did a really nice job on my freshly turned rotors.

It's not like you need a head or the rockers. You have to be able to find something. I have had reverse fine thread bolts made for me, in the US, and it wasn't that much money.

There are a bunch of Studs on E-Bay, under Yanmar studs. But it makes me see that going to a marine source might work. Also, forget about JD, Any rebuilder that does Yanmar should know a source for the studs.

Sorry to hear about you dilemma but I have to point out that when people say parts and support for the common brands like JD are the reason they stay with a brand or are willing to pay more when shopping doesn’t seem to be as true as it once was.

Now to help with the situation search for the parts used from a wrecking yard. The tractor was fairly common and finding them used should be fairly easy. Compared to having them made or trying to match them to an other engine even if they are close they may not be exact and my experience building engines tells me that when it comes to valve geometry close isn’t close enough when you want it to last a long time.

Good luck finding them.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I ended up having them made by a local machine shop. Thanks again

John Deere seems to like changing old part numbers which doesn't help!
