the deck was made in 2000.I bought the mower used w/ 2,000 hrs.the tractor is a 1995 so the deck was added later.as far as I know it has the original spindles.so your saying 10 pumps should do it.And the greases should'nt be mixed?what's the best grease to use,I bought some extreme use grease today, will that work?appreciate the feedback...russ

No, I was kind of joking, 10 pumps is to much. Maybe around three should do.

The "standard" grade of grease for lubing the mower should be a lithium complex with a NLGI#2 EP GC-LB rating. It's an automotive grease for use on chassis/bearings.

3 pumps (shots) from a lever action grease gun ,4-5 from a pistol style. Spindles are usually greased every oil change (@50 hours) along with the rest of the mower. If your worried it may not be enough, put in a shot or 2 every time the blades are sharpened (might also want to do the PTO shaft). The 10 hour requirement mentioned by other posters was for the pins on tractor loaders. These are generalities, the owner manual will give you the specifics.

When I grease mine it takes about 25 pumps to get any grease at the seals so I do about 20 every 10 hours and top them them off when the blades are off and I can see the seals.

This is sounding likely to me. I have a 42 inch Cub Cadet, and a new Kubota 72 inch w/31 hp diesel. That Cub Cadet gets greased every time I use it for an hour or so. The Spindles seem perfect after 8 years of ownership. I use Chevron Delo Grease #2. The excess grease oozes out the bottom and I figure it purges a bit of dirt out with it. On the Kubota, I grease the entire machine including spindles every other time I mow, and use it for about 1.5 hours each time. Grease is cheap, I wipe off the excess, and I also use a leaf blower to clean all the dust and dirt off every time it mows. So far---so good.
