The people who report the news on their own observations are not researching what they are seeing or hearing. I am amazed everyday when I read about the "Bulldozer" clearing the roads of snow. What they are seeing is a dumptruck with a snow blade. Same with firefighting. I corrected a reporter back in the 70's when she called the breathing apparatus we were wearing "Oxygen tanks", they are compressed air. She still wrote the story as Oxygen tanks. To this day I see reports or firefighters using "Oxygen tanks".
The old adage of news reporting is gone. Who, what, when, where, why and how are seldom thought of when reporting. But then most "news" is biased and sensationalized to the point of being boring.
