How about running one of these somewhere inline after the PB exhaust port, then using the branch for your logsplitter/backhoe..??

That valve is a selector valve, allowing you to select two different hyd circuit.
Just bolt the valve in a suitable position for you to switch between two circuits.

Pressure hose goes in one side, and provides for two outlets. Each outlet goes to another valve downstream.

I'm thinking you're going to learn a bit more about hydraulics than you ever really wanted to, Alaska.. It'll make sense in the end, lots of people here with enough experience to walk you through the tricky parts.
