Once again JJ is right, air bubbles will make it growl. What bothers me is it is after working for a while, you may have a hairline crack letting air in or a bad filter, either way I would drain the system and put in the correct trans hydro or hydro fluid in. For $50 or so in fluid I would not keep running it this way.

New filter and fluid last week ----
Hairline crack :smiley_aafz: I hope not

Well I got some time today to go up and see if I could see any any air bubbles.
I didn't see any, but we had 1" of rain so I could get it out and actually
rip with it,and get it up to working temp.
I may have found part of the problem in the operators manual.
It talks about using the 3pt in a floating position with a 3 pt equipment
that is equiped with support wheels -- which my ripper is not.
And the hydraulic was in the floating position, I think I am over working the hydraulic pump and should have been using the draft to control the depth of the ripper. Still doesn't explain the growling late in the day when I was planting this past spring. Found a guy that works with Duetz,I am going to give a call tomorrow. See if he has any suggestion.
