BW asked me about this, so I thought I would repost this. I do not believe that the vent on the 1011F or 2011F series is adequate. Seems to me that it is restrictive. So what I did is I raised the vent by a couple of inches. You need to be careful and measure before you do this so you don't accidently put the vent into your oil cooler in the hood.

What I did was I got my measurement (about 2") I drilled a hole on the left side to mount just a single new mount point (there is two bolts but I figured I could do this with just one.) And then I cut a bit of pipe and bought longer bolts to raise the right side.

Nothing official, but I feel it helped in cooling. It does reduce the hydrualic cooling side a bit, making it more restrictive, but i did not feel it was a big factor given the size of my hydraulic radiator.

I removed that shroud entirely. I just don't see that it serves a purpose. Now, you may argue it will overheat the hydraulic cooling system. That makes since but I haven't found this to be the case. Our goal is to move as much cool air as possible through both the oil radiator and hydraulic radiator. Putting the engine fan and hydraulic fan in series should drive more air volume. Plus, don't forget, the oil tank is a huge radiator itself...helping keep the hydraulic oil cool.

I actually think you are right on the Marrt. I mullled this over and decided to deflect but I think you are correct now that I have been doing this for a few years.

I can definitely fee the heat blowing out the side of the engine compartment on my non modified deutz so I have to believe that the deflector is useful in keeping heat away from the hydraulic radiator.

On my old IH2500b, a 50 pto hp machine with a large, 4 cylinder gas engine with HST transmission, my hydraulic oil cooler was mounted directly in front of the radiator. The fan pulled cool air across the hydraulic cooler, drawing out heat, blowing that heat across the radiator, then blowing that heat across the engine and out the side covers. It's all hot air, no matter how you look at it. I'd be more concerneced about restricting the flow of air across the fins VS how hot that air is.
