DeWalt Planer

We get an extra 6% contractor discount but we have a 7.25% sales tax so it really doesn't do much but save us some tax. We don't have a Lowes around here but I wish we did as I enjoy stoping in just to see if there are any discontinued tools on sale as I am not picky either /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes I am tired of riged, which as I undersand is emerson tool, which used to be craftsman, now they are reworked, but I still like milwakee, porter cable, maketa and dewalt tools. Time will tell if rigid is as good as the time tested tools.

Cordless tools are nice if you don't have power, or it is a smalljob. If I am on a building site or electricity if avalible I still perfer my corded tools hands down, there is not comparison with the power of a corded vs a batt tool, and the corded tools don't go dead.

I was told by a Home Depot employee that I know and trust that HD owns Rigid which is why they push them so much. Makes you wonder why they bother selling the yellow tools then or any color other then orange. My HD don't even stock thickness planers anymore which makes me mad as I was going to buy one a while ago and my friend told me to wait as there was a sale coming up and the new models were coming out so they would discount the current ones. Then when I go to get one they don't carry them anymore and don't have any in the store except for a Ryobi piece of junk /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

We use cordless drills a lot on jobsites as I don't have to worry about dragging cords around from spot to spot or having an outlet that works in the area I am working (we do mostly remodling work so we are working in houses that have very poor wiring in most cases). When it comes to saws though, we pull a cord and use the electric ones. The only time we use the cordless is if there is just a couple small things to do and we don't feel like dragging a cord out or if we are working on a roof we don't like stringing cords across the roof (accident hazard). They all have a place on a job site.

I still like Rigids comercial when they first released their cordless tools. At the end the say the best thing about their tools is the pros who swear by them /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Who would swear by these tools that just came out? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Have fun. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
