Dexron II

Around here it seems it hasn't been replaced with any thing. It' more like it's simply vanished.

They sell Dexron at NAPA. I would also try your local GM dealership.

I've got an Sullair air compressor that also uses Dextron II. I couldn't find it either. The factory said Dextron II is no longer made and suggested 10 wt non-detergent oil. They also said not to use Dextron III or any later variant in my application.

Call the manufacturer to be safe.

They must have had a problem with seal compatibility in your compressor. Probably the best thing for you would be a ISO 32/SAE 10 compressor oil (non synthetic as that may also have seal compatibility problems).

In that era Dextron II or the non-detergent 10 wt were the two options. The factory rep was emphatic about using non-detergent oil. You may be right about the seals. For some reason the later forms of Dextron were non-compatible.

That's better than I did the other day.

I went to wall mart and 2 auto parts stores and didn't see a can of DEXTRON anything on the shelves.

I have 4 pick ups that specify DEXTRON.

I see the Walmart in Vienna sells the Walmart brand (Super Tech) ATF. The front of the bottle doesn't mention its applications, but the label on the back says it will work in Dexron® II and Dexron® III and Mercon® applications, but not for use in Dexron® VI applications.

I saw they also sell the old Type F ATF in the Super Tech brand, and Mopar brand for many late model Chrysler applications. Those are the only three types on the shelf. I figured there would have been more, but at least they've got what you're looking for LB! If you don't care for the Walmart brand, NAPA sells their own label and a couple of other brands at their stores.
