I built a mount for my winch on the neck of my trailer. Winch is attached via a receiver that allows me to use it in the receiver of my pickup, as well. I can post pictures, if you are interested.

Yes, I would like to see your pictures. I have a slide in cradle for my winch and a hitch on my other trailer but with the chain box on this one it will have to be set up differently. So I want to see how others have done it.

I will get some pictures tomorrow. I keep my trailer in a barn and it does not have good lighting. I think it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so that should help.

It's a nice, sunny day, but I was hoping for better lighting in the barn.
I had a piece of 7" channel in my metal rack, so that's what I used. It would have been nice to have a wider piece for the winch mount, but I welded some tabs on and it worked out okay. I had a piece of 2" X 1/4" square tubing for the mount on the winch.

I also had a 2" tube mount laying around and used it for the trailer mount. It's also a piece of 7" channel. The angles on the end are 1 1/2" X 1/4" and have 1/2" grade five bolts. I plan to change them to grade 8, but didn't have laying around the shop. I made a hoop from 1/2" cold rolled stock and plug welded it to the channel, to facilitate double lining for heavier loads. The top of my chain box is about 10" higher than the deck.

Oliver1555,Thank you for those pictures!

That is a great way to mount one and I like the loops for double lining. My tool box opens from the top as opposed to yours which appears to open from the front. That is the problem I'm running into is with that top opening lid. I like mounting the winch higher that the deck.

I've got a bolt on configuration in mind that might work. In the mean time if anyone has suggestions on winch mounting I am open to suggestions.

Looks like you got a nice trailer there! Good luck with the winch mounting.

Here is another way. This lad used to put some things on this web site, but most of his best work is on weldingweb.com. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. He had a bright future...

Gooseneck trailer winch mount, and first use. Pics.

Thanks! Some real good pictures at that link. I like the winch we mounted on my other trailer at the front rail. The one mounted at the top of the neck is high but it probably helped with that bus.
