Clever! Depth of field doesn't really show it! It really does look like it's approaching Anaconda size.... got me!

I've got to ask---
Where did you get the picture?

Having been bitten my so many hoaxes in the past with regards to the large snakes stories..

If the mod's will permit me to paste this URL to a forum on the Georgia Outdoor News, you can read the whole story behind it. Man says he guessed it to be about 8 FEET LONG, contrary to 3-4feet the previous poster thought it to be. Read it for yourself:

When I was a kid, about 3-4, the barbershop my dad and went too had a photo of 4-6 men holding up a rattle snake. The snake was big enough to need that many men to hold it to close to its full length. This was in FLA and many decades ago.

Later,

Yes, since it is closer it appears larger in context to the man. I looked at what the apparent distance is between the man's left toe and the tail of the snake, which looks like it it is touching the ground. That distance looks like roughly 3' to me. It's a big snake if I am seeing it correctly.

Couldn't find anything on snoops, it may be true. My wife would move without me if we found one like that here.

I do a lot of Photoshop work and I note a couple of items which are troublesome. If it was Photoshopped, it was done with a good plugin that feathered the original cut out of the snake pic by about 2 to 3 pixels. When you blow the original pic up to pixel level, there are several spots that form perfectly straight "cut" lines which are rare in real photos of animate objects. Usually the hardest thing to fake is shadows. Unfortunately, this was taken in a flat light situation, but I believe there is not enough shadow for the situation.

It may be real or just a good quality fake.

Long pole would explain the strain on his left arm...

The way I see it, it doesn't matter what size the snake is as long as the 12 gauge shell will fit in the chamber. Once that happens, it's generally just a matter of time.

I'll say this much though, if I ever lay eyes on a snake the size of that thing, you-all south of the border will see the results on the evening news, and some might even hear the gunfire if it's a quiet kinda day. Might call for some 3-inch medicine and some #2 shot. He**, if I have buckshot lying around, that critter is a good candidate !

Since that snake came from Georgia it was probably an Eastern Diamondback and they are larger than the Western Diamondbacks.

There are reliable records of ones up to 8 feet long.
