If you really want to get fancy rig up some kind of waste gate so you can control the air flow and tune your fire or let it relax as needed.

I bet you missed the smell of that burning coal! -Try a tin can with a rod wrapped around it for a handle- and holes punched in the bottom. Water the coal you don't want to burn! Works and you can control the fire. I'll take electric blower any day over hand crank or hand pump blowers. I use an old squirrel cage blower on a 1/4 horse motor.

Hi thanks for the suggestion.

Old forge does have an ash dump on the bottom. Could have used it if the force was way too strong.

I Did have a can with a handle, but like everything else around here (Me Included ) it rusted away.. Will make a new 1.

TC Bird question.
There is very small bird, around the size of a big humming bird that is after the sugar water. It has a short beak, light gray belly & darker gray back. It's new to me. Any Ideas what it may be???
