steel cut oats with fruit, usually berries. I also mix in flax seed meal, toasted sunflower, and pumpkin seeds, toasted almonds, or walnuts, and dates, cinnamon, and butter. All of the above served with black coffee.

Uh, hey man, you're just reinforcing our image of Oregonians with those "steel cut" oats... I mean, why couldn't it just be normal oatmeal... Nooo, in Oregon, it must be steel cut oats!:licking:

I love breakfast and breakfast foods. During the week I either eat oatmeal, a bagel with cream cheese, or fruit and nuts. On the weekend I love to eat big omelets with all the fixings!

1 and 1/4 cup of Cheerios, 1 cup of 2% milk, 1 sliced banana, 4 cups of coffee (no cream or sugar).
8 points under the Weight Watcher Points Plus system.
Lost about 25 pounds over the past 9 months. Have about 25 pounds more to lose to hit goal.
Back doesn't hurt any more. Knees and ankles don't hurt as much. And lost 3 inches around the waistline.

Amazes me how many of the members responding to this thread say they have oatmeal....:
I like oatmeal and try to have a cup of it once or twice a week. Strong correlation between oatmeal consumption and better cardiac health.

JDgreen, I can find studies on mice that the same ingredient in red wine - resveratrol - can help, but the dose to humans that they gave to mice would be 60 liters of red wine a day. There is a study that included a whopping 11 obese - but healthy - men that helped with weight loss but it was resveratol in a low dose but without the alcohol.
Then there was another study of human fat cells in a petri dish but it was again resveratrol without alcohol.

{"scientists at the Laboratories of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, showed that fermented pomegranate juice and cold pressed pomegranate seed oil have antioxidant activity close to that of green tea, and significantly greater than that of red wine."

This Haifa group did a red wine study for 3 weeks on 15 healthy adults average age 29 and got good results but the length and number is too small,

Still looking for a long term large study......

I and several other with heart disease found that alcohol increases our triglyceride levels. ??????

Wow ! Great news Don...I will show this to my Mrs....Is that 60 Liters a day of Red Wine I get to drink or is that per week....Thanks...:cool2:

Brin, that would be each day - somehow I knew you would like that - plant more grapes.

...and tell them to skip the part of blood work that shows your triglyceride level.:)
