Did you go to your last HS reunion?

I never went to one but was tempted at the 45th last year. I left the area and, while I have fond memories, am surpised at the number that still live and try to work in the same small town. That's not a bad thing but I find it odd that so many would stay when the talk was always about getting out. I must have missed something.

We have our 50th scheduled for this year, I may go but I'm not sure. About 12 years ago some of the guys that I played football with started a reunion of sorts. The guy who was captain of the team in my junior year was a college and NFL coach for over 35 years. The last team he coached for was the Bills, and he moved back to this area. A reunion of his team mates was what got it started.

After a few years we started to invite members of some of the teams we played against as well. Last year we had over 100 guys at the Friday night dinner.

These things are a hoot!

I have not interest in going and I have moved so often and so far away that they cannot find me. Or they do not want to find me.

However, my University HAS managed to find me. Not sure how. Course all they want is M O N E Y.

I was watching a documentary about the Doolittle Raid this weekend. Doolittle promised his men that he would have a big party for them after the raid. Well it took until after the war to have the party for the men who survived the war. The men like the party so much they said they wanted to do it again. Doolittle said he could barely afford the party he promised and he could not afford one every year.

They ended up having parties every year. At one point a set of silver cups were made with the names of the aircrew who flew on the raid. A nice case was made for the cups. Every year the members meet and toast the men who have died. When a man dies his cup is put upside down in the case. An upright cup is for those still alive.

There is a bottle of what I am sure is very expense booze they are toasting with. It was bottled many years ago. I think on Doolittle's birthday. There are only five men remaining and they will have their reunion this April in Ohio.

Later,
Dan

Just curious. I went to my 25th, 10 years ago. It was fun to see people I hadn't thought of in years.

We attend both mine and my wifes high school class reunions.
They are held every fifth year.
She graduated in 1963 and I in 1959.
My class has a luncheon each month Jan - Oct.
My wifes is every month Jan - Dec..

We enjoy the get togethers
We went to school with some of them from the first grade.
Others were neighbors we grew up with .
Several of them are our neighbors yet today .

My wife and I were High School sweethearts...same graduation class 1963....We went to our 10 yr reunion but have passed on all since...We are in touch with the committee that puts the reunions together and we give them updates on us and pictures and receive the booklet from each reunion. We live 1,000 miles away and most all of our classmates moved away as well...so from what we have seen only a few ever go to the reunions and they are the ones that never left the old home town...crazy not to leave...So there is not much for us to go back to...no family left there..so we just make do with the memories.

All they ever wanted was $$$$ from me .:D

I went to one and that was plenty. I get invites to new ones that I ignore every year. They have combined almost ten years worth of graduating classes and travel somewhere together. Last year it was Vegas, this year it's a cruise in the Pacific down to Cabo.

I saw the pics, recognized a few names, but not any of the faces.

Eddie
