Well, he should have had Ag tires on that thing and he wouldn't have that problem. Looks like it was a hydro unit and that was in his favor.

Why, Because he would have trashed the Explorer more it it was gear drive? :confused2::laughing:

I was just a tad bit west of there for the storm. I was in Hackensack, N.J.

I knew the storm was coming, so I left my house at 6:30 AM on Sunday, left my terminal at 8 AM, arrived at Hackensack at 3: 30 PM , opened my doors and backed into the loading dock and waited(while listening to the radio).

6:30 pm a guy and his 'girlfriend' come off the hill from the 'projects', makes it to within 30 feet of where I'm parked.........abandons the vehicle in the middle of the road and walks home.

About 2 am, a Honda Civic tries his luck, he abandoned his 70 feet to the right of my truck.

8:45 am on Monday, my truck is empty, but I can't leave because the cars are abandonded in the middle of the road and the snowplow can't get thru.

3:45 pm, I was finally able to leave Hackensack, NJ.

That entire area was a mess.

And yes, there was a slowdown on cleanup in NY because of the union. Yes, the guy driving the loader was an idiot. Yes, the tow truck driver was an idiot, and I guarantee the loader operator still has his job.(or another that pays better)

From what I hear, your governor has no problem whatsoever with the storm.:cool: Yea, the sunglasses was on purpose.

You mean..........'Fast Eddie' Rendell?

It's my understanding that he personally drove his limo, 110 mph to philly so 'he' could clear the snow so the ball game wouldn't be cancelled...........LMAO

We're just 'wussy's'

I hope it's ok to ask this here: I have a little question about something that's popping up a lot in this thread... The phrase "Union worker"...

From the way it's being used, I'm getting the impression that in the US being "in a union" is often used to justify and get-away-with being an idiot.... Is that the case?

While there are lots of clear and obvious differences between US and other continents, it's the little things like this that I find the most interesting :)

As is usually the case, most city workers are also union members.

I will not say always, but in most cases government/union workers a promoted on the basis of the "Peter Principle", Promoted to the highest level of their incompetence!

I spent several decades as a military contractor at a Major Command Headquarters. The harder a civil servant worked, the longer it took to get promoted. While the incompetent/lazy ones played the political game and made rapid promotions while not producing any real work.

When you add that to the protected status of a union member, he can make horrendous mistakes and blunders and yet only receive verbal reprimands (ie. a slap on the wrist)

Anecdotes are interesting, but do not prove anything outside that person's experience. This is getting a little tiresome.

Update, for those that still give a hoot. This mornings paper has a story about the sanitation workers... seems that many have come forward with the news that they were told by their supervisors to "slack off". This is because, reportedly, about 100 of the supervisiors are due to be demoted, and thought this was a smart way to protest? Perhaps they should be demoted to unemployed, and the workers who came forward promoted to replace them? This story ain't over yet.

You guys have to remember one thing.
The SUV that got destroyed was a 1997 Ford that BELONGED TO THE CITY.
I'm sure this if the sanitation guys knew this, it may have clouded their judgement a little.
