Since 2001 I've been trolling with a Gateway 733 pentium and a forty gig hard drive and a 128 RAM.

Last night my son in law hooked up my new puter that he built for me. P4 turboed to 3.3, 1000 RAM, 36 gig ten thousand RPM hard drive with a two hundred gig separate hard drive for photos etc.

We've had DSL since it became available from Verizon. But with the small RAM I wasn't as fast as some of friends on dial up.

This thing moves. Fiber is now available so my wife it ordering it today. In probably about a month I'll be so fast I can start a kiss and finish it, all by myself.

So now I've got to move all the favorites, photos, documents, etc from the old puter to the new one.

Any hints or tips or better yet, step by step directions, would be appreciated.

Harv, can you please type slower? Your computer is going too fast for me to read your posts. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Get your son in law back over and have him take the hard drive out of your old computer and temporarily hook it up in place of the 200 gig in the new computer. Copy the info that you want off the old drive to the 36 gig drive and then reattach the 200 gig.

this is the fastest, easiest way to get R done!

Harv,

If you want, that kinda thing is right up my alley. I could probably have everything from your old computer that you'd need moved in under an hour. I guess shoot me a PM if you want me to do it...

Bobby I'll catch you on this later. That sounds like the way to go.

I'm hauling butt to finish Ft Worth this morning but will be back in town this evening.

As they say in France, "that dawg'll hunt".

Last time I was in CompUSA, I noticed a sign in their service department, and I forgot how much they charged, but it said for moving data from one hard drive to another. I don't know whether you'd have to take both computers to them, remove the hard drives and take them, or just what.
