Mornin Bones,
Actually I knew of some jeeps having that option ! All I can think of watching the video is the poor women that lost her arm on a tractor PTO ! In the safety forum ! :( I think a guard is in order there !

Check out our Web site Farm Jeep for lots of information and old ads. There was/is a PTO shield available, exactly like we use on our tractors today.

Interesting videos.

They appeared to have been filmed at some kind of farm show. I'm very surprised some sort of guards weren't required. Of course, the whole area may have been roped off, but that's not shown in the videos.

I knew the early Land Rovers (when they were still veddy British, Long Live The Queen and the Sun Never Sets on the British Empire type vehicles) had a PTO. I also knew the Mercedes Benz Unimogs had PTO's. But I never knew Jeeps had a PTO at one time.

More jeeps are showing up at farm shows. Jeeps had optional PTOs starting with the first civilian jeeps. It is much more common to see a jeep powering a belt pulley rig. Don't know that I've seen that many stationary PTO driven devices - but then I've missed a lot of things. They used a 90 degree model for the belt drive. Ours has a paper drum. Later models were metal.

Various PTO options were available. Some PTO's came out the front to drive winches. Common, at least on manual trannies to have PTO capability. On earlier Jeeps, the PTO came off the transfer case. The Overdrive assembly went on the transfer case too.

I know a buddy had a late 80's Chevy 1-ton flatbed w/dump. The dump was driven from a PTO attached to the granny low 4-spd.

Some of the Jeep could have 5 shifters...
1 - Tranny
2 - low/hi range
3 - front axle engage/disengage
4 - Over-drive
5 - pto

You could get a Toyota Landcruiser with a PTO powered winch, too.

A buddy of mine had one some years ago. It worked well. But, he helped some poor person that missed a turn and wound up in the ditch. He winched them out, put everything away, and missed a lever on the winch or something. Went to release the clutch, and popped a small gear in the winch

It was a green Landcruiser, all stock. He called it "meathead" :D
