Similar to the other thread, I'm looking for a dump truck to carry some gravel and to be able to pull a trailer with my tractor. I'm looking for a low budget model. I found a 1980 Ford 8000 with a reman CAT 3208 diesel. Is this strong enough? Anything to look for?

Plenty strong. We pull full size back hoe with a old Ford 700 and a 391 gas motor and a old GM C 60 and a 350 with a little 2 barrel. Not going to get there quick but both trucks were bought for under $2000 each and will haul 6-8 tons of material and pull a decent load locally just fine.

Our second out fire engine is a for 8 seize chassis with a 3208 turbo. It ain't like the newer engines with the 8.9 Cummings, but it is good running rig. It always has a good load on it too; water, hose, gear...
