Diesel Can Cap Fell into Fuel Tank !!!

Nope!
All 3 of mine do not!
Guess it depends on what tractor you have.

Never in the tractor but once on the riding mower. Fortunate - the tractor would be a very long, blind reach - the mower situation involved a bright yellow cap - right at the bottom of the gas tank - directly below the fill port. Nothing I own has any type of inlet screen.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. The Deutz tractor I fished the glove out of...no. The versatile swather that had a dead moth randomly float over the inlet also didn't have a screen. It did when I was done with it! John Deere 8100 tractor comes from the factory with an inlet screen. The one I worked on had the screen broken off. No idea why.

My nozzle -black plastic snapped loose and 6 inch nozzle and red unlock button fell in. I still have the spring. My New Holland has a neck on about a 45 degree angle. Those red button jobs are hard to push when holding 5 gallons above the tank. I am concerned about the foreign objects and no way to see in there.

Funny this should come up. I just filled my backhoe yesterday and forgot to pull the plastic cap I keep on my pump nozzle off. As soon as I pulled the trigger and looked in the tank I saw the cap blow off into the tank. Ain't no way I can fish that little cap out of a 28 gallon tank. My pickup tube curves up off the bottom so it won't pick up any water so I assume it will never know the cap is in there.

Years ago I was re fueling a neighbors old J.D. tractor after he helped me with a project and the metal flex tube off the old style can broke off and fell into the tank. When I went to fish it out I found 2 others that had been there for who knows how long.This tank had easy access and I was much younger and could easily get to it, the old fellow that owned it ,not so much. We were both amazed that they had been there for years without causing a problem.

I was refueling the B7500 shortly after buying it in '02 in near darkness. Twisted the fuel cap off and didn't notice the rubber bottom part of the cap was stuck to the filler neck. As I poked the dispenser nozzle into the tank it drove the rubber cap down into the tank. I tried to retrieve it without success. It was still in the tank in 2012 and never caused an issue.

When I was having a fuel supply issue with my tractor (gunk in the fuel tank outlet) I had to drain the tank, found a piece of wood in there, about 1/4" by 2" by 8" just floating around in the tank, no idea how or why it was there... was actually kinda a pain to get out of a 2" hole

Hmmm....

By any chance was this a tractor without a working fuel gage?
