Diesel fill

I've seen many fill their diesel trucks with off road diesel to save the fuel tax. The store clerks don't care what you doing at the pumps. they usually busy waiting on people buying things in the store to worry about what you're pumping

I have no idea on the gasoline transportation limits, but personally speaking, I am not wild about having gasoline inside the passenger compartment, and I go to a lot of effort to strap the jerry can down and to drive especially carefully.

Yeah, my gas can is taller than it is wide and I always worry when I have it in the back of my pickup that it might tip over. What a mess that would be. I always have stuff back there to wedge it in, but I still worry.

I ran a filling station evenings and Sundays by my self as a teenager. One Sunday a 12 ~ year old kid was going to put gas in a quart canning jar so he could mow the yard.

I seen him and shut the power off to that pump and told he to send his dad here with a gas can.

I've never seen or heard of anyone else doing that.

I agree that a 45 gallon is a bit odd, but if you would see me putting gas and diesel cans in the back of my hatchback I guess you would scratch you head as well. I just crack my window and drive away.

Used to carry gas cans in the trunk of my BelAir.... needs must

It’s a big fine, but I think I’ve only seen one tank ever dipped in my life.

Personally, I doubt it as it is inside the passenger compartment, and I doubt it was permanently attached to the vehicle, nor do I think the tank was even rated for transport. That looks like 400lbs(ish) of fuel, upright, with one strap around it. (Attached to what, I wonder. There aren't many heavy duty tie downs built into those Sprinter/Transit vans.

As that looked like a commercial vehicle, sooner or later, someone is going to be running a roadside check... although I agree with @Hay Dude that it is unlikely. I think it is more likely he will hit someone or be hit.

Down here the State man will sometimes set up at the livestock market and will test every other truck in the line to unload cattle, you can always tell what's up when they get to jockeying and switching places in line.

Why would anyone be filling diesel in their van? Farming equipment? Central Florida. Seemed odd.
