I think many factors contribute. First off is performance enhancements. Second is the injection systems have change. Some use hydraulic injectors that use oil pressure to inject the fuel. Another major factor is the DPF systems. I would not worry too much about it unless excessive.

About 15 years ago, I had a nearly new 1 ton with a 7.3 powerstroke. Got a "fuel in oil sample" report. Never showed up again. :confused:

As Chris said, don't worry about it unless it's excessive and continues to show up in future oil samples.

Also realize that most diesel engines have a 16:1 (or higher) compression ratio. If left idleing for an extended time, there will be some slight fuel contamination of the engine oil. Again, unless it's excessive . . .
