My new injection pump arrived today, along with the manual. I installed the ip using the existing shims, and the engine seemed to run fine, except it makes more black smoke than before. When doing my first operational test, it suddenly made a loud banging sound, which it never made before. I took it back to park it, and the sound repeated once. I'm wondering if there is a timing issue that could account for the sound? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
