Thanks for the tip Mahana. I've bookmarked the page and will try and acquire some through a local distributor. Sounds like a little extra protection...:D

No problem. I have used lots of it with my BioDiesel.

Like kenmac said you can get the white bottle and the silver bottle additives at walmart. My Tractor Supply ordered some of the BioDiesel Artic Express for me. i just had to ask and they special ordered it. They carry the normal white and silver bottles as well.

According to New Holland, here are some things about biodiesel that one should consider.
A. Buy biodiesel that meets the North American fuel standard ASTM D6751.
B. Biodiesel will actually attract water vapors out of the air. Fuel tanks should be kept as full as possible to limit the amount of air and water vapors in them.
C. Check the engine oil dipstick daily to ensure that the biodiesel has not deteriorated the fuel pump seals. This would allow fuel into the engine sump.
D. Due to potential stability problems with biodiesel, the fuel should not be stored in on-site storage tanks for more than 3 months. If it is, this then should not be used as fuel for a diesel engine.

Yes Yes Yes. there are problems to look out for. Bad BioD can harm engine parts just the same as bad #2 Diesel can.

A. Mine is homebrew, there are economical ways of testing for quality that use without having to spend a fortune on ASTM testing
B. i forget the technical tern but Biod will absord water. it is more of a concern with higher humidity levels. West TX has really low humidty and again there are way to combat this with water absorbtion filters.
C. any fuel related part made after 1997 should be synthetic and is biodiesel compatable. Natural rubber seals and lines found pre-97 will become soft and deteriate with extend exposure to BioD and as the percentage of Biod goes up so with the rate of failure os those lines and seals.
D. BioDiesel is made from organic material. Vegtable oil mainly. the same biocides you use for #2 will also work for BioDiesel. It is more likely in Biod due to Item B. its ability to absorb water since that is where the fungi grows.

Hi California,
From my experience, bio does need a little extra effort to keep it from "jelling" or going bad. In cold weather, keep your bio from freezing. It does not like the cold at all and will "jell" or precipitate (turn cloudy) at a warmer temperature than plain petrol diesel. Avoid using B100 in near or below freezing weather and instead opt for B20 mixed with petrol diesel. Use in combination with anti-jelling additives as needed.
Some tractor makes are very touchy about using anything but straight diesel.

Want cheap Insurance? Use a water filter like the "MrFunnel" type, when refueling your diesel tractor. Factory fuel filters on your tractor do not block water.
Save yourself frustration and lost tractor time- Filter the fuel!
Happy tractoring to you!
