So did you run it? How was your alignment on the lovejoy? Direct drive is still the most efficient method of power transfer.

fired it up today. the lovejoy alignment is good. the a/c wiring is all done, just gotta finish the tank and the control panel.

another view. the rubber mat is going to be used to isolate vibration. the old commercial kitchen mat was the trick, it worked really well.

nice job - i like what you did -- what hp is that single cyl diesel?

for connecting the flex line, i used a sanitary clamp, and like you described, i run it into a spare car muffler i had - it's a loose fit as the flex is 2" and the muffler inlet is 3" but i slip it in about 9-10" and don't hear a thing but the engine's mechanical noise -

here's a couple shots - i had first wrapped the flex with asbestos tape for handling when hot and was hoping it might kill some of the noise resonating from the pipe - the tape did zero in that regard - it wasn't till i tried that muffler that all the combustion report noise became history

in the first shot, the flex pipe is off, stored where it stays when not in use - next to the fire extinquisher - you can see the sanitary clamp hanging off the flange i added to the honda's muffler. The sanitary clamp is actually something from the food industry but available from McMaster-Carr, but it was 316 SS, so i figured it'd take the heat and it's handled it fine. but it's quick detach and that's why i went with it. I initially drilled the T handle lock nut for safety wire in case i found it coming loose - never has and last outage was 2+ days

actually yes - it was for a VW R32 - i imported quite a few from Blue FLame in england
but the R32 and audi tt were same floorpan

had one that had some dents that i couldn't sell and blue flame gave me credit on it but before i got around to junking it, i found a use for it
