A one ton four wheel drive chevy and a 1/2 ton extended cab GMC and the wifes Crysler Breeze.
With that being said I think you might win in a pull-off as long we both used four wheel drive but if I could talk you into using two wheel drive that might be another story./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gordon, I expect my hitch (a Reese Titan V) is probably a foot or so higher off the ground than yours, so if we could hook 'em together with a short chain, I expect I could transfer enough of the weight of your rear end to mine to be able to get the better of you, traction wise. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

mark ..i go with the fewer cylinders runing rough .the more bangs per round the smover they run also there is less need to have balanceing wieght.A book i'm looking at has a JD 755 in it it's rated speed is 3200rpm and max torque is at 2600rpm so i'd say max torque maybe be around 2400-2800rpm the other thing that shows up is as the stroke get's longer the rated speed comes down but the amount of travel a piston does per minute goes up ie a kubota "B"with a 2.8 inch stroke covers 7280 inchs a minute at 2600rpm where a kubota"M"with a 4.6 inch stroke covers 11040 inchs P/M at 2400rpm ,even when the small motor is speed up to 3500rpm it still only covers 9800 inchs P/M with that in mind i would say even tho the smaller motor is runing faster the piston and rings would wear faster on the longer stroking motor but bearings and bearingshells would be the fast wearing part in the high reving motor

Hmmm, wouldn't the higher rpms add up to at least as much travel of the rings in the cylinder in a given period of time?

mark.. yep it would if you took it out to 4000rpm them the short stroke would cover the same amount as a longer stroke at slower speed the only other thing that comes in to it is bigger bore thicker rings:))

And of course you could put synthetic in it and eliminate that factor altogether. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Besides, it's expected of me. I hate letting people down...

mark .good to see ya got back on to oil:) but with what i said about inchs/miles traveled per minute/hour by a piston/rings it makes ya wonder how many piston miles ya get to a set of rings ??

jkid,

You are correct and the distance moving one foot is vertically against gravity. Therefore the units turn out to be energy. Yes 1 HP is 1 HP except that one HP in electric motors is not the same as 1 HP in gasoline or diesel engines, so don't let them sell you any electric tractors. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
