Diesel in winter

Kerosene would be OK for cold weather as well.
Back then I often was given Jet fuel by the 45 gal bbl.
Now the tractor loved to run on JP fuel even more than my wallet.

When I had gelling of my oil stove oil the merchant wanted to sell me 'winter fuel' which he admitted was pure kerosene (at a premium).

I declined and instead coiled heat tracing line around the inlet pipe, and that did the trick!
When my tank was more than 1/2 full the pressure actually forced the gelled oil into the warm room and all was good.
BUT when low there was not enough pressure so the heat stopped.

I added a little Lucas EXTREME COLD additive to all the equipment tanks. Not quite as much as they say for unteated fuel. I have a chart on the wall where I did the calculation for each size tank. No need to figure it out, over and over again.

The Utiliities use the Lucas here. I love the smell of the stuff.

Good, keeping Indianapolis solvent.... (Where Lucas oil products are made). I know it smells good but don't ingest any. Most likely will cause issues in your underwear...lol (ooops, that is another thread on here....)...:laughing:

Vey Interesting and I think well done video and tests. Kind of makes me mad that there are products out there that are pretty much snake oil!

Too bad the Lucas wasn't in his test lineup.

Last winter we hit record lows of -22F. Prior to that I hit the tractor and Jerry can w PS white at the recommended cold weather dose. No problems. I did not start tractor at those Temps. When it warmed up to a balmy zero she fired right up. I use ps all winter now at the higher rec dose.
