No, you're not splitting hairs. They have carburetors, not fuel injection. They do use a kerosene mixture, not ethanol/nitro. That's a glow plug engine, I believe, not the diesel. Anyhow, they are compression engines. Here's a wiki link...

Pretty far removed from a "Diesel" engine. I've never seen the ones you linked. Interesting.

A friend of mine ran a couple... in the last few years he's switched to all battery operated RC planes. No more fuel.

I am guessing here, but is it that with the Lithium Ion batteries we have now the power to weight ratio is such that it makes sense to go all electric on model planes with a lot less hassles of the small fuel engines?
