It's to pull this trailer. I could have gotten by with the 550 but you can only get the powerstroke in the 550. I wanted the cummins and the 6 speed allison. To get that you have to go to the 650 Crewzer. Price wise it was only a little more.

That looks like it will be a great setup for towing, Richard. I can't wait to see pictures of your actual truck when you get it.

Some folks at the local Elks Lodge, where my Boy Scout troop meets, has a Ford just like that. They have a 5th wheel that appears to be a mid 35ish' long that they tow. Appears to be a much better tow rig for something that big, compared to the 3/4 tons I see running a 5th wheel that big around here...

Harder to park when you are away from the show/competitiion and doing some sight seeing or local grocery shopping though /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Now, that's a truck! How long are you with your truck and trailer? With only my 25' gooseneck trailer behind my 1 ton extended cab dually Dodge I'm almost 57'. From your picture, it looks like your trailer is over 40'. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif With the gates I set up at the entrance to my property (too close together now in hindsight), I can just barely make the turn if I drive halfway into a deep ditch across the road. I actually had to move an eye bolt on one gate post (used when just chaining off the entrance) because I needed the extra 1 1/2" of opening. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Good luck with your new ride!

Dargo,

The trailer is 37 foot long on the floor, which is 45' long counting the front gooseneck. I'm not sure what the total length will be. The trailer empty weighs 14,700. With the horses, water, etc. we were at almost 20k. The Dodge pulled it ok but I don't think it will last long pulling that heavy of a load up and down the road every week.

Robert,

Yea I thought how we could go to the amusement parks and other things at these shows and such. Heck by the time you get there, I usually drive all night getting to where we are going after working 16 hours, get everything done, run, take care of the horses, I don't feel like doing anything!!! I don't think I've unhooked the truck from the trailer two times the last three months and one of those was to trade the old trailer for this new one. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Richard,

Nice truck and trailer.

Did you have to get the new truck now that your daughter is a rodeo star? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Later,
Dan

Nice combination Doc.

Is that trailer your birthday present of a few years ago?
