Buying Advice Diesel smog emission stuff?

After my experience with not being able to get dealer service this year, Mahindra is a non-starter for me.
Think that speaks to the dealer more than Mahindra. I do understand though. I had a terrible experience with Toyota. Learned my lesson will never buy a Toyota or a new car again. If I can't fix it I dont buy it. Thats one reason we bought the most simple tractor we could find.

Another friend of mine can't find anyone he trusts to replace the clutch in his Massey Ferguson, either.

Far as I'm concerned, the EPA and their inane rules have destroyed the very essence of a diesel engine and that is running at a lower rpm to produce adequate torque. Why I'll never own a T4 abortion.
I agree...they just don't stop. I have a tier 4 Kioti but it is first phase and just has the electronics. no re-burn and also 2 grand cheaper. I did some research and planned my purchase (2013) and the dealer still had a 2012 model (clutch). A simple, but well built tractor with the consumer in mind. Not sure about what "compliance's" are in place today or who decides HP exemptions but rest assured they will keep adding more tiers/regulations/mandates going forward. Follow the money, and you will find the truth behind this clean air scam.

Yes, I'd agree. Clean air was and is a great idea, but the EPA went down an entirely false road. Instead of going after big powerful polluters, they went after the little guy. And in the process they not only didnt do much about pollution, they managed to destroy the innate reliability and economy that went along with the traditional low RPM diesels.
And that caused people to be unhappy with the EPA - and by extension unhappy with the whole effort to make the pollution less. A noble goal and a complete screw up.

I 100% agree. Rudolph Diesel designed the Diesel engine to be a low RPM, long lasting torque engine, but today it no longer is.
The saddest part to me is the diesel industry was thriving. There were innovations being made just about weekly. From new turbo designs, injector designs, intakes anything you could think of they were designing. All the shops supporting families and tens of thousands of employees are now gone, imprisoned or skeleton crews. It was enthusiasts driving the industry. Put the wrong turbo on for a customer now, and you can expect a armed raid. You can't own and operate a diesel performance shop and survive by changing tires and 6.7 CP4s. Again I have no skin in the game my diesels are old I do my own work and Ill drop in what ever injectors and turbo that I want. Just sad to see it all end the way it did.

So we had a pollution problem in this country. We all see in in old photos from the 1950s & 60s.

The EPA got created and with all the best and brightest ideas and then went sprinting full speed down the wrong path.
We could have simply solved the problem with better technology, but instead the the EPA and brethern concentrated instead on restictions.

By now we should be way ahead of the game but instead what we have is a mess. The smoke stack industry is still here, diesels are no longer simple and efficient, and people are angry.

So what do we do now? Returning to the old days is just stupid, and continuing down the same path is too.

But we've learned something. We still want the same thing we always wanted - a better future. That will probably be a future with less regulation, less restrictions, and more technology. Going forward, not backwards.

Buy what you want and delete it.
Just don't get caught. I know people say that won't happen but under this failing but still promoting new 'Green energy deal' anything is possible. Just look at the IRS and what this administration did, hiring thousands more IRS agents and then arming them for what? What is enforcement of you paying your 'fair' share according to this administration. Same deal could go down with the EPA and don't assume it won't if this current tack continues. Just be careful who and what you vote for and make dam sure you DO VOTE.

Keep in mind that if you 'delete' it, you will still require the 'deletion' parts and if you cannot precure them, you are still 'up the creek without a paddle' so you might as well hang on to and keep in good repair, your pre 4 unit and you can still buy repair parts, both OEM and aftermarket for them. Think about the big picture before you post something.

Don't think for a second that there aren't Federal Government agents on this site reading along because there are. Consequently, be very careful what you post because you don't have any idea who is reading along.

We presently live in the 'spy versus spy' era.

I've really 'sanitized' my comments on this and other forums, especially firearm related forums I frequent just because of the people who are reading along that may or not be government employees, here for the sole purpose of reading and reporting (in you or others).
