Comparison Difference between a 2920 & 3030

George, you have marked that you have between 11 and twenty acres so before I'd tell you which one would be the best value for you I'd wonder about other uses!

Other then the driveway listed which they both use good snowblowers with that could handle your driveway, the 3030 can take a wider blower to cut your snow removal time I'd also wonder about mowing!!!

The 3030 will handle a 5' brush hog far better then trying to put one on the 2920. The 3030 is a longer and heavier chassis then the 2920 so in as much it's a plus for the 5' brush hog it also would be a minus for manuverablility for running a 60" finish mower vs the 2920. To mow with a 72" finish mower would put a plus to the 3030 again!

The factory cab on a 3030 I would consider it part of the tractor. The aftermarket add on like sims or curtis cabs would be a half day removal with some assistance.

No I won't be using the 2920 for any mowing. I use a Scag Tiger Cub w/48" deck for that. The only other uses would be to clean out my small barn in the Spring after the go out to pasture as well as grading my driveway with a York rake.

If you're not going to mow, and the money isn't an issue...I would give serious thought to the 3030, and that's from a 2920 owner. Do drive it (the 3030) and run the engine at different RPM's...a lot of guys have suggested some of the 4 cylinder Kubota's vibrate making it uncomfortable. But that's hearsay on my part...I haven't driven one.

With that in mind I'd say that the 2920 would be more manuverable in the barn to assit with cleaning but the additional weight and size of the 3030 could be a plus for the outside duties.

Spend some time in the seat of both tractors. I have a B2320, same family as the 2920, and was amazed the first time I got on a 3030 how much more comfortable my tractor is for me. Other opinions may vary!:laughing:

I know you said that you are not going to mow. For others who may be reading this thread, however, I will include the following information.

The MMMs for the B2630 and B3030 are not "suspended" decks. They are "floating" decks, which is the same thing as "ground contact" decks. This is just like the FEL bucket having its full weight (but no hydraulic downpressure) on the ground when in the "float" position. The full weight of the deck is designed to sit on the deck wheels. Adjustments for height are done to the deck wheels and the full weight is supposed to sit on the deck wheels. MMMs with suspended decks allow for height adjustment to be made by running the MMM while part to all of the weight is suspended from the lift linkage. The tractor has a MMM position control knob just below the operator's seat. (This is totally different than the 3ph position control being referred to otherwise). This knob allows the MMM to be lowered to a preset yet partially elevated position. The deck will go no lower than the dial setting. I am under the impression that tractors with the floating/ground contact MMMs do not have this position control knob. Some TBN members have mentioned that they drilled holes in the deck and used chain to suspend the deck at a desired height to overcome this. Some owners prefer the floating deck, stating that it follows ground contour better. Others have stated that in soft sod the deck wheels make ruts due to the high pounds per square inch on the small wheels.

All of the BX series, and B series tractors with the numbers XX00, have the "suspended" deck MMM. The tractor has the stop knob, and the MMM cannot drift below that stop. This allows precision cutting while the deck is in the air and the anti-scalp wheels only touch the ground when necessary to prevent scalping. The deck can, however, be lowered so that the full weight is on the wheels.

I am unsure, offhand, which MMM the XX20 series uses. I am sure someone else will pitch in with that information.

The ground contact deck is the one thing that kept me from trading my BX2200 for a B3030 back when I had enough income to do it.

the 2320, 2620, 2920 has the suspended decks. 2630 and 3030 are ground contact.

I like your style! I tried the same set up but the JD 717A ZTR was no good on my hills. What the Kubota-either one- will bring to the table is a great mow job up steep hills. The MMM on my B7800 has the best or is tied for the best mowing cut I have ever seen. The decks do a terrific job. Not as fast as the ZTR but terrific none the less.

IMHO-both tractors are really good choices but I would go with the 3030.

That was a key reason I chose the 2920 over the 3030...my tractor spends more time mowing than any other task....although this past winter snow removal was trying to displace mowing:laughing:. That's also why I offered the opinion I did in my earlier post.
