Comparison Difference between the Kioti DK40/45/50SE HSTs?

GManBart: The main reason I would be willing to pay more for the Kioti is because of the greater advertised lift at the pins of the FEL. And yes I did notice the breakout force difference and was trying to rectify that in my head with all of the FEL specs. LS online specs are for 2011 models.

What year is you LS manual?

Does your LS stop on a dime (almost literally), per se, if you were to immediately lift your foot off of one of the go pedals? The ones I drove, R3039 and R4041 literally would do this and one needs to be careful and belted in, which I like a lot. The other OEMs I drove had a softer feel to releasing the pedals, including the DK50.

The FEL could sway my decision. I was given a price a month ago for the R4041H of ~ $20,500 with loaded tires and the LS dealer is 40 miles away while the Kioti is 150 miles. I originally quoted 100 miles distance per the Kioti web site, but ended up driving 150...

The front tires are the same size on the LS vs. the Kioti per online resources, but I did not physically compare them... and the Kioti rears seem to be taller? Did you mean the rear tires on the LS are wider for more flotation?

I tried to attach screen copies of the tire size charts but they always came out too small to view once attached to this thread. and then I deleted them from the post but they still appear as attached. I have no idea how this post will view- sorry.

My LS manual is a 2012 version. The best description I've seen of breakout force versus lift capacity is that lift capacity is simply lifting something like a pallet, but breakout force is where you dig the bucket into a pike of dirt, and roll back on the bucket, while raising the loader, to break a chunk of dirt out of the pile. You need both lift, and curl to get breakout force, and two sets of pistons are working per side.

The Kioti has 10x16.5 fronts and 14.9x24 rears (R4 Industrial tires). The LS comes with 12x16.5 and 17.5L-24....wider fronts, and both wider, and taller rears. Yes, the width helps float on soft surfaces....just spreads the weight out better. From what I've seen of the specs, that makes the fronts about 2-3" taller, and 2" wider on the LS. The rears are about 1" taller and 2" wider on the LS. Sometimes the LS specs for the 4041 show smaller tires, but they always seem to come with the larger size normally used on the 4047.

My 4047 does stop quickly....pretty handy not to need the brakes much :)

here is my experience on this. My last tractor a Kubota L3400HST was pretty abrupt when you let off of the pedal, my current tractor the Kioti DK35se is a little softer, not much but a little..Some people complained about some of the smaller Kubota's as being too abrupt. Notabably some of the BX's . it was bad enough that there were a lot of complaints. Now I notice you like the abrupt stop on the LS.. Here is the deal, if you get a Grand L Kubota, that response is adjustable with a dashboard control. Yep it is one of the neat features of the HST+ hydro in the Kubota. Personally I think they all stop fast enough for me and never use brakes to stop. One thing you might not have noticed is even though the tractor comes to an abrupt stop if you are headed downhill even, but over time as the pressure in the hydro bleeds off, the tractor will start to drift downhill faster and faster. This takes a minute or more, but it will start to drift, and you will need brakes or reverse direction pedal to maintain your position. If you apply the opposite direction pedal, you will charge up the hydro again and it will sit still for a bit, but start to drift downhill again soon. Or you can just put your foot on the brakes.. Of course if you live on flat or nearly flat ground.. when you lift your foot off of the pedal, well "thar she stays".:)

I am going to the LS dealer in a few minutes for a final test drive. I have measured the rear track with the R4 tires at the maximum width to be around 67" and figure a 72" BB would be the best size for a tractor in this HP and weight range.

I have not been able to find a DK40/45SE with R4s to measure. I assume a 72" BB would be the right size and cover the tire tracks as the LS and Kioti should be similar sizes.

This will be a package deal so would need to order the correct implement sizes when I order the tractor and would HOPE the Kioti rear width would also be less than 72". Can someone provide the Kioti's maximum rear tire width?

Thanks
