different music

A few of my picks.

Patrick O'Hearn, Chris Isaak, Linda Rondstadt with the Nelson Riddle Band, most anything Mozart, some Beethoven, bits of Bach, Erich Kunzels Telearc performances including RoundUp, Down on the Farm, Happy Trails, and lots of 60's (Petula Clark, Beach Boys etc), 70's (Moody Blues, Jackson Brown, etc.) and some 80's music (Police, Dire Straits, etc.). I either got old or music started getting crummy in the 90's especially the rock groups.

I am envious, no, make that jealous of anyone who can play an instrument, to me that would be a wonderful talent. Piano, fretless bass, guitar, violin, heck I'll settle for a harmonica. Rat...

You get up to Ceasars to see the Moody's? We've seen 'em a few time there, and in Concord. The first time I saw them, I went for fun, figuring I wouldn't recognize much. I knew every other song, but had never put a band to them! They consistently put on an excellent show!

My wife is a long time Moody Blues fan. We got the Live from Albert Hall video from KVIE for donating. It is great!

You ever get to Grass Valley for the Bluegrass festivals? I've been a couple times, 10 or so years ago. Great stuff!

Oh man... The 30's Benny Goodman! The Carnegie Hall coincert they did, I have on album. It just rocked that place! Krupa on drums, Hampton on Vibes... A number of othe rmusicians were there from other bands.

I happened on some drum battle stuff a while back too, I think on NPR. Some of these big rock band drummers think they're something; I wonder how they'd hold up if they battled against Krupa and those guys???

An excellent Canadian Rock Band from the late 60's early 70's which Burton Cummings was lead singer and one of the members formed another band after they split named BTO.

AH! GENE KUPRA.HE WAS QUITE THE DRUMMER, don't have anything of his left. wonder if i could still get some?/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif and how a bout a drummer of the name COZY COLE only had 2 big hits about late 50"s early 60"s but he could bring them sticks

Hey Robert, I have the Albert Hall CD. Track 3 has a new song to me, English Sunset, really enjoy it as well as the entire CD. (it's in my truck CD player as we speak) Have not been to see them, in fact I've been to 2 rock concerts my whole life, The Guess Who at Cal Expo and Gordon Lightfoot at Memorial Auditorium. Hey their both from Canada. I've heard Grass Valley puts on a terrific Bluegrass Festival but have yet to go. Been to one in Fiddletown many years ago. Rat...

uhmmm ... Rat ... ?? ... we must have a different definition of rock. I've got every song (I think) that Gordon Lightfoot recorded ... but ? rock ? .... hmmmm ... I have a hard time with thinking of him that way, especially since I think of Bob Segar, Iron Butterfly and that ilk as rock. I think of Gordon as a vocalist or, more usually, a balladeer. Canada has certainly exported some interetsing names: Paul Anka, Ian Tyson (of Ian and Sylvia fame for those of you not into western style country), Anne Murray, Celine Dion, Burton Cummings, Terri Clarke (and some real losers ... imho ... k.d. lang ).
Just wish there were a few station that actually played some of these non-current folks. Any of you guys with satellite radio know if there are "stations" that actually play something other than the "oldies" - the same tired, recycled songs over-and-over-and-over - or top-40?
