Hello. Im new to the forum. I just purchased a new TC45D 12/12 and the differintial lock worked one time and now it it wont engage again. also the leaver for the loader is loose and spins in my hand when operating the bucket any ideas.

By the the way guys i love the site. chris, jimmen, and u guys seem real knowlegable about these tractors. ive been around tractors my whole life. but we had ford 8n and 9n with acouple of old 70 modle longs no loaders or diff locks no 4 wheel drives. This new holland is to me is like a little kid with new bicicle its great.

Hi Deerhunt1974, and welcome. :)

I'm not sure about your differential lock. When you say it does not work, do you mean the pedal will not engage or it is stuck down and will not release?

To fix your joystick lever spinning, just remove the rubber boot below the joystick and you will see the rod that's spinning has a jamnut threaded onto it. Tighten down that nut and you should be in business.

Thanks jinman for your reply. the pedal will not engage. It engaged once and disengaged once but now it does nothing when you you press it down.

Thanks for the info on the joy stick ill fix it tommorrow was out of town last couple days.

If this is a new tractor, then I'd let the dealer fix both problems. I might tighten the loader nut, but I wouldn't play with the differential lock.

If new, let the dealer do it.
If not just look underneath and see if it is hanging up on something.

Deerhunt,

I'm not sure if you're familiar with how that differential lock works or not but i thought i'd put in my 2 cents worth and maybe it'd help. On my TC55DA, you have to hold pressure with your heel until you feel the differential lock "lock in" and then hold pressure until you're out of your jam then release your heel. It may take a revolution or 2 to get it to "lock in" but you'll definately feel it when it does. Maybe you're not giving it enough time to lock in. I know it's not designed to be locked in for an extended period of time because you couldn't really turn very well with it locked in. Does this make any sense???? Good luck.

deerhunt1974,
Welcome to TBN. The gears on the differential lock are square cut and won't engage unless they are in near perfect alignment. Try pressing down on the pedal as you slowly start moving. If you do that, the gears will align and drop in unless there is a problem with one of the parts. As they get worn, they will engage easier. Hopefully, this will be all you need to do.

I'm taking it in today to get my hydraulic remotes put on that finally came in from when i bought the darn thing 2 weeks ago. Along with my ag tires and a few other items they are going to install for me so ill have them look at it for me today when i drop it off thanks again.

I hope it's not bent forks.. hopefully it is something insignificant.. either way.. if it's 2wks old.. sounds like it is warranty issue.. etc..

Welcome to TBN :D! I spoke to my dealer about difficulty engaging my differential lock on my NH TC29DA and had him tighten up the FEL joystick during the 50 hour servicing. I got the impression from the dealer that the difficulty engaging the differential lock is inherent to the TC series of NH tractors. I agree with CJ4 as to how to engage the differential lock. Jay
