differintial lock not working

/ differintial lock not working #11
Welcome Deerhunt,

I just took my TC24DA into the dealer today before the warranty ran out to have my diff lock fixed. No matter what, even standing on the pedal, whenever there was a difference in torque the pedal would pop back up even when I tried to hold it down.

Like Soundguy said, hopefully its not bent forks, but the dealer and I think that might be the problem. It works fine going in reverse.

Good luck!

Probably a stupid question while on the subject of diff lock but here goes - when in 4 wheel drive with diff lock engaged both back wheels spin but only 1 front wheel will spin at a time. If I go slow when stuck and work the pedal 1 side will spin and then stop when the other side engages. Is this normal? I'm assuming so. It took alot of pedal work to get up a very steep, snowy road crossing my creek today. I think I could have climbed right out if all 4 wheels would turn instead of just 3.

I'm assuming maybe this is to prevent binding of the front gear assemblies? Can someone set me straight.

On your DX33 the differential lock is only for the rear axle. I am not sure but I think some of the larger ag tractors do have a front differential also. Bill C

Thanks Bill.

Yes jk, very normal. I've been in kind of a comical situation a few times on icy ground when (with the diff lock engaged) I'll get one front wheel and one rear wheel on opposite sides spinning, and going nowhere.
