One word.

No.

3K wont even cover the cost of the E-Room nurse jabbing you with the Tetnus needle.

If some other fool, wants to take the ride on a flipping tractor, let them.

40 degrees on a grassy hillside? With no runout other than a river?
It's got "Darwin award contender" written all over it, no matter how you approach it.

If you take it, heed the advice of wearing the seat belt.
Tractors squish people like Possums under a Semi, and jumping clear only works when jumping downhill...with a rolling/sliding tractor chasing you.
We lose a neighbor every couple of years to Tractors flipping over around here. Jumping clear seems to have some drawbacks.

Where is the guy that mowed it last?

I mow a lot of steep stuff. I don't do with with the tractor or skid though. I use a mini excavator with a flail head. No way would you see me mowing those slopes with a tractor or even a skid.

Back up it from the bottom! Go slow and pay attention to the way the tractor is acting. If it doesn't want to do something, DON'T FIGHT IT. If the tractor starts to slide drop the bushhog to the ground! That is less weight the tractor will be holding back and the drag can help keep the tractor stright. Best of luck and be careful!

My thoughts on driving up were, should you lose traction, you simply stop moving up hill. If you choose to start at the top and all of a sudden it gets a little steeper and you lose traction. Kiss your Grass goodbye. If you remember your physics lesson, you static friction is much greater than your kinetic friction. I.E. when the tire isn't slipping or riding on the ground it sticks better, once you start sliding, your toast. SO, if I had never mowed it before, I would start at the bottom, so I could atleast get back to where I started, no way would i ever break over a hill if I had never climbed up over it before. even then, it sounds like I wouldn't volunteer for it.

Crowsnest - how many acres are we talking here ?

If it's not a crazy large area, for 3k I'd be tempted to clear it with an industrial gas trimmer (Stihl etc) using a blade.

3K would not be enough to get me on that particular tractor, even though I could use the money.

fwiw,
Concur. I personally value my health at more than $3K. I understand having a use for the money. Just don't let it be on Doctor Bills.

Regards, Matt.
