Dave,
Take some pictures so we call see how much fun you are having digging, as others have said, just take your time. Some of the most difficult stumps I have encountered were more difficult because of the structure of the soil, not really the type of stump. I've found the sand/gravel type soil the easiest to dig in, hard dried clay the most challenging.
