Backhoe Digging a 1,900 foot long, 2 foot deep trench with L3200!

I own a small excavator and a backhoe, believe me, an excavator is way better for this job. Trencher would be great in sand but as pointed out, in rocky soil forget a trencher.
Wireless connection would be easier for you if available.

I agree with flusher. Rent a big ditch witch for the weekend and have at it.

Use the Kubota to clear a work lane.

Well... IM DONE!!!! all 1900 feet ! I have a new respect for those folks that use a backhoe for a living. It was fun...but it was exhausting too. I took another picture from the base of the mountain to the finish line (about 700 feet). If you look real close you can see my tractor in the distance, and if you look further past the tractor you might see the last power pole which is still about 75 feet away, and thats the finish point of this project. The cable has been laid and now for alot of back filling. The second picture I posted is of my ole-faithful black lab "ci-ci". He was with me every step of the way and he helped hold the dirt in place as I went along (guess he felt he was helping). Very smart dog and knows to stay clear of the backhoe when I'm working, but this was when "we" took a break. For any of you out there that consider doing a job like this....a trencher would not work well on this mountain, but an excavator (mini excavator) would work fine. I made much better time than the last ditch witch that was used on this mountain (total of 16 hours on the BH) so I'm sure other BIG equipment would have been faster, but the Kubota performed great. I took my time and had safety in mind every step of the way going down, and didnt push my machine past what it was capable of doing. Any plans to put down any sand in the trench before backfilling?

You may want to put a bright yellow or white ribbon the length of the trench about a foot down so that any future excavation activities (not necessarily by you) have a warning that something is buried.

No sand.....I actually removed the rocks from the dirt I dug up to be used in other projects around the house, then back filled. We are marking the entire trench with warning stakes every 10 to 20 feet when the backfilling job is finished.
