Digging a pond

It took me two months do dig my 3/4 acre pond with my full sized loader backhoe.

Think what you could do if you knew how to operate the equipment. It's pond, not a pool. Most of the work is done by pushing and not load and unload.

Thank you for your insight. It's always interesting to read how the experts do things. In my ignorance, I failed to buy a machine that would "push" thousands of yards out of my hole in the ground and in my ignorance, thought that picking it up with my loader bucket and dumping it outside of the hole was the best approach.

It never occurred to me that "pushing" the dirt with my bucket is how those who know what they are doing, do it. I'm still confused on how keeping the bucket on the ground is faster then picking it up, but thanks to your wisdom and greater intelligence, I will just take your word for it that your way is best.

You really should have known better, especially when you have to get off the loader and get in the dump truck and drive it to where you want the spoils. You should have known it would be faster just to push it with your dozer.(lol)

maybe he got a deal on one of those new D-11 mine cats
kid was on a field trip for tech school and was at the cat plant got to see them play with one on the testing sandbox
could probably do a 3/4 acre pond with one of those bad boys in a half a day
now just to find the dealer that will rent one of em for $200 per day

Google "dirt pan", they will take a much larger scoop than other 3 pt scoops and still allow you to transport the dirt elsewhere without much evidence.

A friend of mine was digging a pond and using the sand to raise another portion of his land. The State stopped him. They said he was sand mining without a permit.
