Digging a small pond with FEL?

I'd start with the Yellow pages under "Excavators." Then maybe some hauling (dump truck) companies. With any luck you'll find them there or at least hopefully get some leads.

We work all over Texas and when I am in unfamiliar areas I just check the yellow pages. If there are any oilfield service companies in your area call them, they will know.

I think it can be done if you have lots and lots of time on your hands. Personally I left the pond construction to the guys that know how to put it together correctly and with the right equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Great looking ponds guys! I loved ponds as a kid, and can't wait to have my own now. Not only are they very pleasing and peaceful to look at, they also attract a lot of wildlife. I would like to dig mine deep enough to hit clay. A Liner for the size pond I would like would cost a small fortune! I'll check out the yellow pages for a good dozer operator. I'm building a 150x400' pond mainly 6' deep for bass and bream fishing. I plow it up, then skim it with my FEL or pile it up with a box blade. Neighbors are welcome to bring tractors with FEL's and pickups with flatbed trailers and haul away all the dirt they want, as long as they get only what I have plowed up or piled up in the pond. Several have helped a bit, but not as much as I had hoped. Maybe this year!

I guess I had about 12,000 yards to dig. All the dirt I personally remove is hauled at a snail's pace to roads, trails, and low places on my 10 acres. (there are plenty!) Work-wise, I'm about 1/2 finished. Dirt-wise, about 20%. Ugh!

I'm praying for a landscaper or contractor that needs dirt.
