Once again I am overwhelmed with all the information from everyone.. Just like Ford vs Chevy or Deere vs NH.... Everyone loves what they use it seems..

I have gotten to play with a sony superzoom at walmart and it is quite quick when shooting pics.. I havent made my decision yet, but I am on no time frame..

thanks for all the advice..

Actually, I thought that the "debate" was not so much brand related at all but rather focused on the relative merits of interchangable lens digital SLR versus the new generation of super zoom quasi SLR cameras. That is not so much a Deere vs NH debate but rather a HST vs gear type discussion.

Don't get us started on Canon v Nikon:eek: .

Should you decide to go with the Sony, I suggest you read this white paper by Alan Katz, a professional photographer who uses them, having largely replaced his use of his Nikon D200 in routine use. It is an excellent description of how to exploit all the "manual modes/settings" of the Sony H-series, in addition to useful tips throughout, including using the telephoto, wide-angle, and macro adapters.

H1 White Paper - Photography by A. A. Katz

You may have seen it linked on DP Review, where Alan is an active participant in the Sony forums. If not, I wanted to make sure you had this resource. I'm still just experimenting with some of his ideas, since these things take such great pictures in their automatic modes...
