Dimples on Plastic Hood

Ok, so do all the 2x20s have metal hoods...even the 2720?

I was wondering that myself as I'm pretty sure mine's not steel. My guess is that we're confusing the current 2520 with the 1970's tractor of the same moniker.

My 16 mos old 3720 and 8 mos old 4320 both have dimples as you describe but doesn't really bother me. What bothers me a lot more is having a cab with A/C and heat system that doesn't work too well.

I'm with you brother but really, should the amount we spend to have the ultimate tractor brand come with dimples?

Hiya,

The 2520 I have is an '07 and it has a steel hood. It has plastic sides but the top "hood" is steel. The magnet sticks to it just as good as it does to my rollaway or bench vice. So unless they have incorporated a high iron ore content into the HDPE, I'm thinking it's some type of steel alloy.

You are 100% correct. I just threw the refrigerator magnet on mine too. Steel top, plastic sides.

Thanks for the 2x20s info. Do these "steel/metal" hoods have any dimples or welded divet points or are they smooth as glass? When I waxed my 2305 just after I got it, the paintwork was impressive and smooth as glass. Haven't done much since except rinse it off and keep the loader and MMM lubricated and free of build-up. Anyway, thanks for the info.

Have not noticed any of the dips or dents in the hood. But then i do not keep the cleanest tractor of all so may be they are under the dust and the dirt. 6 to 1 half a doz to the other of plastic vs steel. The plastic now seems to be very tough and resistant, but steel is a great place to put tools and does not seem to scratch as much.

Dimples are cute on cheeks, not hoods.
