"Latency is sometimes a pain"

I'm not quite sure what this means. I have DirecWay at home and I use a T1 line at work. I don't really notice much difference. How would latency affect me?

I just did the speed test from the sites linked in this thread. I have DirecWay service.

First test at Computers4Sure site: download 1931 Kbps /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Second Test at DSL Reports site:
Download <font color="red"> 1553 </font> Kbps /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Upload <font color="pink"> 24 </font> Kpbs - the only issue I have with satellite service - uploads are s-l-0-w !! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

keep your software up to date, with latest service pack, and get 4.2 when it gets out.... They really help the upload.

If latency (high ping times) doesn't bother you - Great! Where you would see it is things like Real time gaming, VPN, Voice over IP (free long distance telephone over the internet)

Browsing is the biggest use, and it is where Direcway shines. If you like online music, try the music at mydirecway.com, it is the best that I have heard. (it doesn't tie up performance, because it uses differant bandwidth...)

Gotta love the music. Nice thing is that the feed is included in the cost of the service. Good touch for them to include it, use it all the time.
