Tractor
2008 Kubota B2620
I spent all weekend plowing through blackberry bushes and busting down old dead trees to carve and ATV trail near my house. Not only did my B2620 get completely muddy, but I got many many scratches and a couple dents in the rear fender.
This tractor only has about 13 hours on it. Help me to feel better and show me some dirty tractor photos. After all this is why we buy them right, to do work? Seems like alot of the pictures I see here are of sparkling clean kubotas sitting in heated garages:rolleyes:

Don't have any photos at the moment....but yeah they just ARE going to get beat up some unless you just mow with them. Those of us with woods to deal with are always going to have to make the occassional foray into the deeps.
I seldom worry about such things....my main question to myself is always...." Is my tractor earning it's keep" I don't keep them around because I like them, I keep them around to work and earn their keep. If that involves some rough treatment, so be it.

I totally agree. (except the part about not liking them...) I was thinking to myself pretty much all weekend that work has never been so much fun. I spent alot of time clearing trees with my chainsaw and trimming and pruning back branches, and everytime it came time to mount back up on the kubota to forge ahead, I had a big grin on my face.

I learned quite a bit about counter balancing also. I put it up on 3 wheels a number of times. One of those times it felt like I almost tipped. I need to get out of the habit i've developed on my ATVs of sticking a leg out for support when on two wheels. I probably wont be able to stop a tractor from tipping like I can a 5oo lb ATV.

I get mine real muddy lots of times. They just aren't the times I think to take a picture of it.
I have trouble remembering that the front axle just pivots. No springs resisting the lean...

I learned the most important rule when owning a tractor and that is never and I mean never let someone borrow it. I let a very close friend use my tractor to move some gravel, turns out it was river run stones.

He told me he was sorry but he couldn't understand why the stones kept falling out of the bucket and onto the hood. He offered to have the hood painted for me, but as of this time it is still on the tractor with many scratches. At the time you could of knock me down with a feather, but I managed to tell him that would be fine, after all it is only a tractor! What I really wanted to say can't be posted here.

So I can live with dirty tractors, but to see dents and scratches is another story. So, remember it is only a tractor!

Scratches and dents will happen eventually on a working machine. At 13 hours it hurts more. Look on the bright side. after you have finished all the rough work with this tractor you can buy a new one to just sit on and sip a beverage while you cruise around your perfectly manicured grounds.

At the price we paid, cash, when we bought our tractor new, I don't like to see any dings. I would like it to stay just the way it was when we brought it home. But life happens, and it's a tool for doing a lot of rough work. The best you can say is each ding comes with a story, good or bad. And just remember, the hardest thing to repair is the nut behind the wheel!

Well G Force ........this weekend I had my BX2660 stuck up to the rear axles in mud while I was attempting to pull some recently cut 10 ft logs out of bush, the first two went good , but by the time I got to the third one my ATV trail was more like mush and the width of trail limited my option on how to get out .
The FEL bucket lifts the front wheels to put wood in the soupy ruts but the back wheels required sweat and hand shovelling and liberal swearing to finally get it out.
lessons learned .......
1) don't go onto clay based bush trails after 5 days of rain, even if they are on well drained hill.
2) putting your legs out to prevent tipping does not work
3) pop off lenses on tailights work great, when you rub trees , but find them before you move and run them over.
4) carry cell phone to call wife and have her bring ATV and shovel
5) one hour of powerwasher brings the orange shine back
6) should of took picture when dirty
7) but it all was still better than a day at work

My 2620 has 3.2 hrs on it and it has been muddy......... once:p I cleaned it all up however before parking it. No user inflicted wounds as of yet. I did have a close call though, I had my chainsaw tool in my back pocket and hopped up on the seat. Luckily it had fell sideways in my pocket and didn't gouge the seat.
