I admire your determination. I am a right leg above the knee amputee and I have installed a hand brake lever to the brake pedal of all 3 of my tractors.

As for attaching/detaching the PTO. I am imagining an adjustable cable acting as a cradle to support the middle of the PTO shaft suspending it at the correct level to connect to the tractor. I like the old fashioned PTO release "button" rather than all the new collars and twist releases. The button could be held in by some sort of small clamp. Then my idea would be a lever that can be easily attached/detached from a bolt near the PTO stub to push or pull the PTO connector onto the tractor (kind of like the lever that is used to break the bead on manual tire changers).

I'm not disabled but a couple of years ago I had a knee replaced, so instead of hauling and unloading wagons,
I got shifted to running the chopper tractor, to make it easier for me we ran a rope from the tractor to the chopper hitch to pull the draw pin out with, it helps a lot. We are still doing so.

There are a few different quick hitches for drawbar implements;
one is http://bergmanmfg.com/
for hydraulics
Multi-X Range | CEJN
MK / Couplings / Products / Home / VOSWINKEL - Armaturen, Kupplungen, Rohrleitungen - High Technology Made in Germany
for the pto
Easy PTO quick connect for any attachment - Tractor PTO Link
As far as the 3 point I'm not a fan of the standard quick hitches,
My Branson 8050 has this style lower arm lift connectors and I find these easier to work with, and they can be released with a rope if desired, they are nice for semi-mounted also.
Quick Coupling Hooks | LH Lift

The different hitches mostly seem good and the hydraulic multi connectors seem decent may be a pain to keep clean.
The PTO I'm not sure about.
Good luck with your endeavors

Do you know if the Bergman quick hitch could be used on a plow? I see it's made to pull wagons. A plow would put a lot more pressure on it depending on the turn depth.

I would expect that it has the same or more pulling ability as a drawbar pin would,
a pull type plow such as a chisel plow normally attached with a drawpin would seem compatible.

There are some "tough birds" on this website!

Great thread, with some really good info. I'm recovering from some really poor hospitals, long story, and haven't been able to drive anything in over a year, bought a van with a power seat for doctors etc. I've gotten by since a 1968 auto crash with some mods, but some of these may well be needed.

I have a wheelchair accessible van with a ramp, but what I'd really like for hauling is a modified dually pickup. I threw a link in an earlier post of a truck that makes farming VERY accessible.

I was also afraid the implement "kickstand" might dig in the dirt, but I can kinda make out adjustment holes for raising it. Obviously it would just be a quick way to connect to the hitch. I would still have to get out to connect/disconnect the hoses, but getting the hitch connected is the main struggle.

It would be nice to be able to move the tractor around remotely. That is how I hook to implements, I have hand controls that I can reach from the ground, makes it SO much easier to hooks things up.. I do have three big dolly's that I set my snow blower, back blade and bush hog on and I can move them with little effort.. Some of the things I do are pretty dangerous but some of us have no choice if we want to get something done and not bother someone else in doing so..

Yes, I have also found that tillers, blowers, rotary cutters, and mowers can be hooked up much easier when on dollies and smooth concrete. :drink:

You Tube has some videos of adaptive seats like you want for trucks, I may have to get something like that eventually depending on my rehabilitation. I like the lift you posted, but the cost is prohibitive at this time.

Braun and Bruno make some seats that are on a scissor type base, they also make a lift that the seat is mounted to the floor pan, cost a lot of money though.

I wish I could find it, but some years ago, some friends built a ramp for one of the TBN members to get to his cab and he had the strength to transfer from his wheel chair to seat.

Bringing my powerchair with me is a big hurdle when considering a vehicle. A powerchair accessible vehicle almost always requires a big modification to lower the floor.

Just curious why you can’t use a manual chair with knobs on the push rims that you push with the palm of your hand, are you able to do that? The reason I ask is my friend is a c5/6 and the only time he uses a power chair is when he is doing things off of hard surfaces. He drives and has a manual chair that he keeps in the truck so that he doesn’t have to load the power chair when he leaves and doesn’t have to unload it when he comes back. Without a power chair it opens a lot of avenues as far as vehicle selection and the cost of adapting one to accommodate a power chair..

Could you install an air bag suspension?

All people with paralysis are different. For instance, my hands and my triceps (push muscle) are paralyzed, but I do have almost all my sense of touch and can push with my legs to lift my weight (even stand sometimes). I have a buddy who also has a c5/6 injury and has triceps, but less bicep function. There are many nerves in the neck. I broke my neck in a dirtbike accident and most of my damage was caused by the swelling.

ALSO, I spend all my time off-road and I try to reserve my shoulders for the important work so as not to wear them out. If I lose my arms, farming is off the table.

Understood.. Yes getting the swelling down quickly is of the utmost importance. Having some leg function is priceless..

I don't see why you couldn't have the ports setup the way you need them down lower and plugged in. I would say a QH would be of some help to you, it would certainly be better than not having one. It's not easy for me to hook things to the 3pth and I have full upper body strength. The PTO shaft is by far the hardest thing I do, sometimes it takes me so long that I plan on using the tractor the following day.. I could probably install a tiny winch so that if I get the shaft in the right position I could use the winch to pull it into lock..
