Looking for used disc harrow that a 30 hp tractor could handle. Anyone have a favorite web store for used equipment?

I found mine at Classifieds - Classified Ads - Advertising - Used Cars - New Cars - Homes for Sale - Real Estate

It's a 5 foot disk with an angle iron frame. The axle that the discs ride on has zirk fittings. Some of the older ones I looked at didn't have any way to grease it.

I paid $295 for mine and saw quite a few in that price range, but they were rusted out pretty bad. I also spent about five months looking for one that wasn't a rebuild project or too expensive.

I also looked on Ebay, but never saw a good deal there.

Good luck,
Eddie

If you have any auction houses nearby, check them. Also look around if you are out in the country, I've seen several good deals come from people who had old equipment sitting out and think it's junk. Sometimes a little grease goes a long way to equipment running again.

Thanks guys. I found one. My dealer had taken back a nearly new Tufline disc harrow from one of his customers who needed to sell off his equipment. It was a little more than I had initially intended to spend, but comparing it to a new unit by this company made it a deal hard to turn down. It looks to be quite a substantial piece of equipment.

I've seen a few Tuffline disc's. They're a fairly impressive piece of work. They jump into the catagory of FARM equipment as opposed to light/medium duty stuff. They'll take hard use without a whimper. Ya done good :)

I just looked at their 20-30hp range stuff on their website and they have a very interesting way for gang adjustment. Their weighs are real close to my 5 footer that I built.
Oh yea they look well built also.

I brought the Tufline harrow home today. The other day when I looked at it, it was windy and rainy, so I did not study it on the lot that well. I took the word of the dealer that it was a good piece of equipment. Now after getting to see it in the dry condition of my shop, I can see that it is indeed a heavily built piece. The TC30 is going to grunt with this thing behind it. I'll make sure that I flood the tires before I try pulling it. This thing has been sitting out in the weather for at least two years, so it has a little surface rust, but it easily comes off. I've got to try and match the paint tomorrow. It is kind of a reddish orange, so it might have a slightly different hue when I'm finished with it. I was told that it had only been used once, and I'd believe that. The notches still have their corner points. There were a few old weeds wrapped around the axle in a few places, so I know that it has seen a little action. Can't wait to get it in the ground to polish those disk.

I have a 6.5' Tufline that weighs 850#. It works very well and is built like a tank. I disked 6 acres this year with it. I had to add about 400# to get through the intitial grass layer. I also set the toe very aggresive and tightened the top link to pull the rear gangs off the ground. I waited two weeks and came back and hit it again without the added weight and both gangs. Came out great.

I know about trying to disc through grass, especially bermuba. That stuff will pick up a heavy set of harrows and let it ride on across without much difference. I was amazed this past Spring when using the tiller. What a difference. Grass doesn't stand a chance against it. However, I don't think my tiller would stand a chance against the rocky, tree limb strewn soil I'm about to reclaim. This stuff is far to ruff to risk destroying a tiller in.

It took a little longer to clean up the frame than I first thought it would, probably four hours. It is a shame to let a new piece of equipment rust up like that. After rubbing it with the electric wire brush, it looks pretty good. Will paint it tomorrow. Going with red. After rubbing all that oxidized paint off I saw that it had been a pretty orange, but I'd already purchased the red.

I have a 1 year old king kutter that is too small for me. it is 6.5 feet wide, over 800 pounds, and is the full box steel frame. Very solid, just not big enough for me. Plus, my land is harsh, witha lot of slash and debris so I want a tandem or a hydraulic pull-type. Price is 575 OBO.

hey guys,
I have had my 5 1/2 ft king kutter harrow for three years now and one of the from disc gangs broke and fell off. Where can you find the whole section with five disc ready to attach. I live in Jackson Ga, 40mi from Macon GA and 40 mi from Atlanta GA. I cant afford much. Recently lost job so even a good used set will do.

thanks
